Wow. It’s been awhile since we’ve posted but good news to share with everyone! Vascon was kind enough to let us share the event and the event pictures. Positive responses came from everywhere and we were glad that we could have complemented the Gala Night with beautiful Golden Strike roses.

Exciting news! VASCON4 is coming soon April 4-6 at Georgetown University in Washington DC and we’re proud to be part of their Gala Night on April 5th. They’ve been very supportive and are taking the lead in using sustainable products like organic flowers. It’s always great to bring home to everyone how and where our organic flowers come from. Most of our roses we have at Beyond Bouquets comes from Nevado, progressive grower in Latacunga, 56 miles south of Quito.

Good day to all. Everyday is a holiday here at the wonderful land of Beyond Bouquets. Our current venture was trying to find a place where we can take action and keep our commitment to the community and the environment. We’ve found that we can easily and quickly offset our carbon emissions. At first we were skeptical offsetting with organizations that were not upfront and transparent with their ‘eco-friendly green’ projects.

We’ve compared many places and found out www.climatecare.org was solid and that we could trust our offset to be in great hands. In addition to the activities we all do to help, carbon offsetting is another tool to help climate control. Our driving, flying, electricity we use to heat our homes and businesses can all be offset to make us carbon neutral. It’s quick and easy with the calculator.

Now there were some questions about how you can be greener this year without going back in time on your lifestyle. We couldn’t agree more! You don’t need to be churning your own butter for the sake of being green! Gradually incorporate little tips here and there into your daily routine. Here are a few tips you can start today.

1) Give green. People who plant trees live healthier, looks better, richer and have more friends (ok we’re stretching it a bit ) but see what it can do for you. Your support in planting trees help make your community and neighborhood quieter since they are natural noise barriers. An average mature tree can provide enough oxygen for a family of four.

2) Sign up for cleaner electricity. Electricity is one of the dirtiest industry when it comes to air pollution. Simply shop for companies that support 100% renewable energy like wind and solar. Depending on where you live, switching is easy and cost you nothing to do so.

3) Recycle more. Many neighborhoods have programs that make this easy. If not, ask your City to sponsor one. It’s only a win-win situation. For an an average family to recycle half of their household wastes, about 2,400 pounds of carbon are eliminated per year! Simply say no to plastic the next time you grocery shop by bringing in your own bag or simply use reuse the plastic bags (ie small bathroom trashcans). Plastic can take up to 500 years to decompose.
